Michigan Medical Marihuana Laws Presentations and Public Input
The Charter Township of Clinton sponsored a public information presentation on the State of Michigan’s new Medical Marijuana laws.
The formal program was presented by three local experts on the topic of medical marijuana. Presenting speakers include, Dr. Saqib Nakadar, internal medicine specialist; Jenn Zielenski, a lobbyist from government affairs organization Dunaskiss Consulting and Development, Inc., and former Assistant Michigan Attorney General Jeffrey M. Schroder, from the law firm Plunkett Cooney.
The presentation took place Tuesday, Aug. 29 at Macomb County Community College, Center Campus, University Center (UC1), located at 44575 Garfield Road, Clinton Township.
“This public presentation is strictly meant to educate, not advocate,” said Township Supervisor Bob Cannon. “Our township exploratory committee has been studying the medical marijuana issue in great detail and we would like to share with the public some of the information we’ve heard. We are equally interested in hearing from our residents about how they feel,” he said.
Guest speakers each had fifteen minutes to present their information, followed by comments up to three minutes in length from the public.
Supervisor Cannon wants the public to understand that the presentation was not a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Charter Township of Clinton. “Township officials and trustees may be in attendance but they will not participate in the presentation or respond to commentary from citizens,” he said.
